Latvia, an ideal destination for a relaxing cruise in the name of greenery and nature, also known as the “Pearl of the Baltic”, has half of its territory covered by forests.
While travelling in Latvia we visit the Gauja National Park, in the hilly part of Sigulda, where we find a large number of caves and castles. In the forests of this area we can meet moose, foxes and white storks, while seals are easy to spot along the white beaches of Jurmala and the Kurzeme Coast, a wild area and well known among surfers. With our Northern Europe Costa Cruise, we arrive at the port of Riga, the capital city, whose historic center was declared a world heritage site by UNESCO. Walking through the center, we can admire the Art Nouveau or Jugendstil style of the buildings. We get lost among the alleys of the medieval center to discover culinary traditions in the great Market Hall.
