Description

We dive into the waters of Stingray City to interact with these extraordinary sea creatures that allow us to approach and pet them.

What we will see
  • Cruise towards North Sound
  • Stingray City
  • Diving with sting rays
  • Snorkelling session on the coral reef

What we will do
  • We leave the port behind us on a fully air-conditioned coach and, in just 15 minutes, reach the jetty where we will embark on a short cruise through the large lagoon of North Sound, which takes up good part of the western area of Grand Cayman.
  • Our destination is Stingray City, a series of shallow sandbars protected by the coral reef and connected to the open sea via a natural channel.
  • Stingrays gather in large numbers here. They were originally attracted by the fishermen’s habit of cleaning the fish in the shallows and throwing the guts overboard. Used to this tasty feat, they continued to gather in the area and learned how to interact with humans.
  • After wearing our snorkelling equipment, we dive into the water to make friends with the stingrays who allow us to get near and pet them.
  • In addition to interacting with stingrays, we can go for a snorkelling session on the coral reef which offers fabulous underwater views with countless schools of colourful tropical fish, eels and nurse sharks.
  • We then get back on our boat where we can sip fruit punch and lemonade as we take in the lovely scenery.
