Description

On this trip you will make a scenic bus trip from Bodø to Engen and back. Engen is located on the south-west of Bodø. The coast in-between these towns, like the rest of North Norway, are home to innumerable and picturesque fjords. Dont forget your camera and maybe extra batteries, as you may need them on this trip. Along the way you might meet an abundance of fish, including cod, saithe, wolf fish and halibut which inhabit in the waters of Bodø. On a photo stop you will be able to experience Svartisen, an arctic glacier just north of the Arctic Circle. It is locally known as the “Black Ice Glacier” and is Norways second largest. It is just 20 meters above sea level and is also the lowest glacier in mainland Europe, which makes it easily accessible for hikers and nature-based experiences. There is some controversy as to why Svartisen is called the “Black Ice Glacier”. It's not black but has a shade of blue. The snow is compressed, and hence it gets darker in color – initially it looks light blue, and then it gets darker and darker with shades of blue. After a delicious lunch you will take a scenic bus trip back to Bodø.
