Description

This tour will give you the chance to visit the beautiful historic city of Bari and its jewels; the Basilica of St. Nicholas, dedicated to the patron saint of Bari, in typical style "Apulian Romanesque" from the times of the Norman dominations. Another important example of the "Apulian Romanesque" style is the Cathedral of San Sabino in whose crypt is still preserved the relics of the saint. Before leaving the old town, we will have the opportunity to admire from outside the imposing Swabian castle; fortress dating back to 1233 wanted the Emperor Frederick II. The castle is surrounded by the ancient moat and is considered the symbol of the city. Starting from the old town of Bari, after about an hour by bus, you will reach Alberobello. The picturesque municipality is located in the center of the "Itria Valley" and is known for its "trulli", now a World Heritage Site. In order to make these constructions is a unique technique called "dry" i.e. without the use of any type of mortar, as well as the typical conical shape. You will walk with your guide to the historic districts of Monti and Aia Piccola before taking the bus to get back on board to the ship.
