What we will do
  • Our journey to discover Trieste begins with a panoramic coach tour, which gives us a first taste of the city’s most important sites.
  • After leaving the coach, we make our way by foot to the Cathedral of San Giusto (St. Justus), which sits overlooking the city at the top of the hill of the same name. The Cathedral was built around a medieval complex that dates back to the 13th century. Here, accompanied by our guide, we can enjoy a close look at the interior of the church, including the precious Byzantine mosaics in the apses and the 13th-century frescoes depicting the life of the saint.
  • Our excursion proceeds with a guided walking tour of the city centre>. In the very heart of the city is the Canal Grande, a navigable canal built between 1754 and 1756 by the Venetian, Matteo Pirona. - Here, we can admire palazzi and the residences of rich merchants of yesteryear, which face on to the canal, before making our way past the Orthodox church and on to Piazza Borsa and Piazza Unità d'Italia, where we have some free time to drink in the atmosphere of what is, effectively, the city’s very own, open-air salon. -- After having visited Trieste we will go to the last strip of Italy where the coast seems to turn back on itself: here is*M**uggia Bay, *a characteristic Venetian village and ancient fishing village.
