Description

A lovely walk to discover the history and architecture of Seydisfjordur surrounded by the typical atmosphere of eastern Iceland with its superb natural beauty.

What we will see
  • Seydisfjordur
  • Multicoloured wooden houses
  • Bláa Kirkjan
  • Technical museum (optional)

What we will do
  • Located at the far end of the fjord, the picturesque Seydisfjordur is the most interesting of eastern Iceland from both an architectural and landscape point of view surrounded by snowy mountains with spectacular waterfalls.
  • We go on a lovely stroll to admire the village and discover its history dating back to the mid 19th-century , when a small group of Norwegian fishermen settled in the area.
  • We admire the multicoloured wooden houses, which are one of the best known and most appreciated features of Seydisfjordur. They were built when the town first developed and still convey an elegant early 20th-century aura.
  • We visit the charming Bláa Kirkjan, i.e. the blue church and the most interesting building in the town.
  • Our excursion ends with the Technical Museum, where we have the chance to learn more about the local fishing industry and technological developments. We are free to decide whether to visit the museum or go back to the ship moored nearby.

What you need to know
  • Comfortable shoes are recommended.
