What we will do
  • We will board our coach and head to the famous Kuranda Scenic Railway, a spectacular railway line built in the late 19th century to enable adventurers and gold prospectors to travel inland to an abundance of deposits.
  • We will leave Freshwater Station on the historic train that snakes around countless bends, through tunnels excavated by hand and over viaducts built more than 100 years ago, and through thriving nature where ancient rainforests are dotted with cascading waterfalls. We will have to keep our cameras handy to capture the incredible scenes!
  • We will leave the train in the village of Kuranda and take a short coach ride to the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway terminal, an amazing cable car that literally passes through the rainforest.
  • We will take our seats in the cable car cabins which will immerse us in the rainforest, soaring over the treetops, picking past the highest branches and delving into the heart of the forest.
  • We will disembark at a substation and explore the rainforest on foot, experiencing the thrill of moving around in an environment where nature lives and breathes.
  • We will continue our descent and when we reach the terminal at the foot of the chain of mountains, we will take a coach transfer to Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Centre, where we will have the chance to familiarise ourselves with the aboriginal culture.
  • We will be welcomed to this unique place with a delicious buffet lunch, which will put is in the best of spirits to meet the indigenous people of the forest.
  • After lunch, we will learn about aboriginal traditions. We will try our hands at playing the didgeridoo, discover healing remedies made from bush plants and attend a traditional aboriginal show featuring dancing, the lighting of a fire and storytelling.
  • Our tour will then continue on to our last stop, the charming seaside town of Palm Cove, where we will have free time to walk along the beach and browse the boutiques before returning to Cairns.
