What we will do
  • After disembarking, we start our excursion in our little tuk tuks, quaint three-wheeled taxis with open sides and a roof.
  • In just a few minutes, we reach our first destination: the popular Bačvice beach, located in the city centre and lapped by the crystal-clear waters of the Adriatic sea and therefore very much loved by tourists and locals alike.
  • We then reach Strossmayer Park, accessible through two bastions remaining from the Venetian fortification. It is a green oasis in the heart of the city featuring a large Modernist fountain.
  • We then get off our means of transport to enjoy a short walk to admire some of the main attractions in Split.
  • We pay homage to the Statue of Grgur Ninski (Gregory of Nin), made of bronze and crafted by the famous Croatian sculptor Ivan Meštrović. We give in to the temptation to touch the Saint’s toe - a gesture that brings luck according to tradition and that has made the foot of the statue particularly shiny.
  • We walk through the Golden Gate, a monumental entry to the historic city centre that retraces the perimeter of Diocletian’s palace, built around 300 AD as a fortified private residence and which later became a true city.
  • We take a stroll around the Peristyle, the palace's inner courtyard surrounded by magnificent buildings featuring countless columns. Due to its scenic beauty and perfect acoustics, it is also used for classic opera and theatre performances.
  • Our tour continues in our tuk tuks, which take us to Teraca Vidilica, a viewpoint offering spectacular views over the city and the sea. Here, we make a brief stop to take photographs of the unforgettable scenery.
  • We ride along the tunnel crossing Mount Marjan for almost a kilometre and pass by the Sustipan promontory, location of the city’s first cemetery and now a lovely park near the centre with breathtaking views of the sea and islands.
  • On our way back towards the port, we ride along the recently-restored waterfront as far as Republic Square west of the Riva. Here, we have the opportunity to choose whether to walk around the city at our leisure or go back to the meeting point at the port by tuk tuk.

What you need to know
