Description An excursion dedicated entirely to snorkelling in the stunning waters of Machalilla National Park on the coast of Ecuador: amidst coral reefs and rocks, we will discover an indescribable underwater world of multi-coloured soft coral and an endless array of varieties of fish, sea turtles and sea urchins. A real feast for the eyes!

What we will see
  • Puerto López in Machalilla National Park: a vast marine area for snorkelling
  • Coral reef, multi-coloured soft coral, wide variety of fish, turtles, starfish and sea urchins
  • Light snack on the boat

What we will do
  • We will leave the port of Manta on a comfortable air-conditioned coach and after about 2 hours we will arrive in Puerto López, a small fishing village on the coast of Ecuador in Machalilla National Park, which spans 55,000 hectares in the Manabí province. As well as having the only dry tropical forest in the world, most of the park overlooks the Pacific Ocean, so it boasts a vast marine area, influenced by the Humboldt current, with over 20 spots for snorkelling.
  • After receiving all the necessary equipment, we will board a boat that will quickly take us to the chosen snorkelling point.
  • Then we will explore the underwater world in this area of the coast of Ecuador with its rocks, coral reef and sand, where we will find multi-coloured soft coral and an impressive variety of fish including angelfish, butterflyfish, longspine snipefish, cornetfish, pike, sea bass, pufferfish, moray eels, snapper, tiger fish, parrotfish, manta rays, guitarfish and whitetip sharks, not to mention sea turtles and several species of starfish and sea urchins.
  • When we have finished snorkelling, we will be served a light snack of sandwiches, pastries, fresh fruit and soft drinks.
  • After our excursion, we will return to Puerto López where our coach will be waiting to take us back to the ship.
