Description

A fascinating nature trail to discover the Osorno volcano with its snowy peak, and the imposing Petrohué waterfalls, where we have the confirmation that the strength and beauty of nature are always far superior than anything man-made.

What we will see

• Vicente Pérez Rosales national park • Osorno volcano • Lunch, Chilean specialities • Petrohué waterfalls • Puerto Varas, shopping

What we will do

• The excursion takes us on a panoramic tour to discover the Vicente Pérez Rosales national park, the oldest in the country established in 1926. The reserve covers 253,780 hectares with peaks ranging from 50 to 3,491 metres above sea level and vast areas of virgin forest surrounded by three imposing snowy volcanoes including the Osorno volcano. • We climb by coach to the foothills of the Osorno volcano, home to one of the most renowned ski resort of southern Chile. We take a walk around the ski resort to admire the beauty and magnificence of a volcano covered by perennial snow, with its black lava and ice with blue reflexes, green lichens and small colourful flowers blossoming from the ferrous rock. We immerse ourselves in a marvellous extreme scenery that leaves us breathless in front of its kaleidoscope of colours and vast panoramas. • At the end of the visit we will continue to the Petrohue Rapids to marvel at the spectacular scenery of ancient forests, waterfalls and breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and volcanoes. Afterwards, we will enjoy a lovely lunch made up of Chilean and international specialties. • On our way back to the ship, we stop briefly in Puerto Varas, where we have some free time to admire the main square and buy a few souvenirs.

What you need to know

• The trekking journey across Osorno volcano is optional; a chair lift is available to reach the top of the volcano (cost not included in the package). • We recommend wearing sportswear and trekking shoes. • Do not forget to bring a hat and sun cream, bearing in mind the latitude. • We recommend bringing a waterproof jacket in the case of unexpected bad weather. • It is recommended to wear warm layered clothing, non-slippery shoes and mosquito repellent to fully enjoy the visit. Also light colored clothing to avoid mosquito bites.
