Description

A half-day excursion in the Magellan nature reserve a few km from Punta Arenas. A pleasant hike to admire the area’s lush vegetation, amazing panoramic views of the strait and Tierra del Fuego island and, if we’re lucky, even a few wild animals.

What we will see

• Magellan nature reserve, panoramic viewpoint • Hike in the park • Fenton hill

What we will do

• We head towards the Magellan nature reserve, created in 1932 with the objective of protecting the Lynch lagoon, Punta Arenas’ main water source. After a stop at the mirador, where we can take some lovely pictures of the surrounding scenery, we start our hike along a trail that alternates flat and sloping stretches. • Along the way, we have the opportunity to admire the lush vegetation, walk through lenga, coigue and ñirre woods and, if we’re lucky, even spot a few wild animals. • We climb up Fenton hill, which offers a magnificent panoramic view of the city, strait of Magellan and legendary Tierra del Fuego island. With the memory of this enchanting scenery in our minds, we walk back to our coach taking us to the port.
