BUSAN CITY HIGHLIGHTS
Accompanied by our friendly local guide, we will board the coach at the port for the breath-taking journey through glorious countryside, to the beautiful Haedong Yonggungsa Temple. Without a doubt, this is one of the most beautiful temples in Busan, and its unusual location by the sea only adds to the peaceful atmosphere. Expect to climb 108 steps to get a closer look at this amazing landmark, which boasts a three-story pagoda decorated with lions. Once inside, our guide will explain the legend of the Great Goddess Buddha, who lives in the sea and is said to appear on the back of a dragon. Next, we will drive to Nurimaru APEC House. The name Nurimaru APEC House is a combination of the Korean words nuri (“world”) and maru (“summit”), and “APEC House,” which refers to an APEC conference hall. Collectively, it means a house where the world summits gather together for an APEC meeting. Located on Dongbaekseom Island, which is noted for its beautiful, natural landscape embellished by dense camellia and pine trees, Nurimaru APEC House has been used as a memorial hall and a prestigious international conference hall since the APEC summit meeting. Nurimaru, a 3-story building, is a modernistic expression of “jeongja”, a pavilion in the traditional Korean architectural style. The shape of its roof symbolises the ridge line of Dongbaekseom Island. Its interior design is a visual display of Korea’s creative traditional culture. We will also have a chance to enjoy Haeundae Beach from Nurimaru. Next, we will drive to BIFF Square. Having been reconstructed as a cultural tourist attraction promoting Korea’s film industry, BIFF Square has contributed to Busan’s new-found status as an international cultural tourist city. Finally, we will return to the ship.
