  • Khasab Fort
  • Central Tower of the Fort
  • Bukha Fort and Al Haref

What we will do
  • We begin the excursion with an orientation tour of Khasab and the surrounding area.
  • We enter the picturesque Fort, built in the 17th century by the Portuguese with the objective of gaining control of maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz and to defend the area from sea incursions. Indian teak wood was used in its construction and the original roof was made out of various types of palm leaves and clay. Within its low, embattled walls, there is a large central tower which is believed to have been built before the Fort itself. The Fort as we see it today is the result of extensive restoration work carried out in the late 20th century. The Fort commands an excellent panorama which is ideal for taking photographs.
  • As we leave the Fort, we proceed along the coast road towards Bukha, on the border with the Emirate of Ras al Khaima.
  • During the journey which takes about an hour, we can admire spectacular views of rugged and evocative scenery that we can immortalise in splendid images during various photo stops.
  • The last stop on this excursion is Bukha Fort, overlooking the sea and framed by mountains, from where we can admire the stunning surrounding landscape and the numerous observation towers of the area.
