Stanley is the capital of the Falkland Islands, and despite being very small, has every right to be cited as the world's southernmost capital. Port Stanley is a marina surrounded by small villas painted in bright colours, immersed in a landscape of wilderness of incredible colours. Outside the cathedral there is a monument, the Whalebone Arch, made of whale back bones from when the area was a landmark for whaling and seal hunting. Magellanic penguins are the true stars of these trips and you can encounter them both at Gypsy Cove and Volunteer Point.
Not to be missed:
• A visit to the town or perhaps aboard the Maritime History Trail.
• Gypsy Cove and Volunteer Point for Magellanic penguins
