Toyama is a castle town and a historical centre of medicine. Its location on the Hokuriku Shinkansen railway makes it a very popular tourist destination.

The beautiful view of the Tateyama mountain range, at an altitude of 3,000 meters, frames the landscape surrounding the city of Toyama. A building of interest is the Toyama Glass Art Museum, which exibits glass art from around the world. Toyama Castle Park has a Japanese garden that is particularly popular for its cherry blossom in mid-April. Beyond the Park is the Memorial Art Museum, with displays of some traditional Japanese tea rooms. Ikeda Yasubei Shoten is an old pharmacy that sells traditional products for treatments, where we can find certain medicinal products which are familiar to us today.
